GI Jane Day

Last month I got to participate in GI Jane Day on post. We ("the wives") got to compete on teams doing different exercises to simulate the guys' training. We did snowshoe races, then had to pull an ahkio, which is just a 150 pound sled with supplies on it. Not so much fun. But we also got to jump out of the 34-foot airborne training tower and shoot an M4 rifle and an M249 squad automatic weapon (machine gun). That was pretty cool! And we even had to eat MREs for lunch. Yummm.

Cory took videos which I tried to upload but my computer was not cooperating. I'll try again another day. Here are some pictures (they're not all of me but show what we did), which are not necessarily pretty on my part...

Chopping Down Our First Tree! And New Apt Pics

We went to pick out and cut down our first Christmas tree!

Found one!

Unfortunately, it looked MUCH fuller when it was covered in snow. Now that it's cleared off and in our apartment, it looks like an elongated Charlie Brown tree. Woops! We learned our lesson for next year.

Here are the "after" pictures of the apartment that only took 4 months to put up!

The recliner is usually in the corner where the tree is. It looks much better there, but has a new home for a few weeks.

Our living room table lol

The second bedroom has been my dumping grounds for school work this semester - y0u don't want to see that right now. One of my projects over winter break is to get that room in order.

Glaciers & Moose!

Driving south on the highway

The cave inside!

Glacier icicle..yum!

Blue ice!

Drinking the glacier water

The other side of the cave

And these moose (a mom and her calf) were just chillin outside our building one night when I got home from class. I took the pictures on my cell phone so they didn't come out so good, but the mom was HUGE!
The mom is to the right; that fence is over 6 feet tall and she's leaning over it like it's nothing. The calf is over to the left of the picture.

Here's a closer picture of the "baby." Once it made eye contact and the flash went off I got paranoid that the mom was going to charge the car and kill me (it really happens) so I stopped. Again, that's our building they're standing right outside of. Needless to say, poor Rudy did not get walked that night.
